Ivan and books

This week marked the first time Ivan actually sat still enough for me to read a whole book to him. The first book was Wiggle by Doreen Cronin. I picked it up because I thought he would like the dog, but he was much more interested in looking at the balls. We've also read Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear by Bill Martin Jr. and Bob the Builder: We Can Do It, a book Nikita picked out for him.

Because it took so long to get Ivan to sit down for a story, I would recite Goodnight Moon and Pajama Time. This and Goodnight Moon as he fell asleep. Other stories I learned to memorize at one time or another with Nikita are Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear? and The Sneetches. The latter story would have been perfect for the storytelling contests held when I was in grade school.
