March: in loving Lizzie, out loving Logan

Yes, I'm two months late AGAIN, but we've been having March-like weather (40F and rain) this Memorial Day weekend. This will be a short post, so I'm going to start it with filler - videos (and spoilers!) that sum up my March viewing habits.

Exhibit 1: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I recommend Socially Awkward Darcy for your fangirl needs.


Exhibit 2: Veronica Mars. Kickstarter introduced me to this series of strong characters, but especially LoVe (Logan & Veronica).


In addition to this article on FB likes and NIN/Carly Rae Jepsen mash-up, I was tied to the screen due to taxes, two articles, and general commenting hell. Offline, I fell in love with Crispin hard cider but oversalted the St. Patrick's Day corned beef by using a different salt. When I actually went outside of the house, I was saddened by the addition of chicken on Pinocchio's pizza, but heartened by the yumminess of vegan ice cream and the awesomeness of WBUR and the Watertown public library. For some reason, that library had DVDs and specific kids books just when I needed them.

Birthdays call for Napoleon!

Ivan was my partner-in-crime while Nikita kept busy with math (Kangaroo), chess (6th at the MA Grade Championship; 1st in RI), and fencing (Arnold Fencing Classic - no signature from Schwarzenegger, but Nikita got his bedtime story over Skype). The boys also had fun celebrating their Uncle Frank's birthday (right) and acting in "Dead Souls." As you can see in the clip below, the boys' parts are small, but really made me appreciate their involvement with the Russian literature group:
