DS2: Do you know why I like the word "pie," Mom?
Me: No, why?
DS2: Because it's the only word that doesn't have a letter between i and e.
Me: That's not true. What about the word "die"?
DS2: Die is spelled D-I-H-E because you pronounce it DI-HE.
Me: What about "lie"?
DS2: Lie is spelled L-I-D-E. It's French, and the D is silent.
