Brain dump

I'm trying to take advantage of Nikita's mimicry to teach him some words. Results so far:

banane (Russian for banana) = ba
mango = ma
Gogol, google = (gutteral) gung-gung

Last Sunday was the first time we saw the sun in over a week. 8 days of nothing but rain. Nikita was not looking too good - gray, with sunken eyes - because he wasn't able to spend time outdoors. On Saturday, we braved the rain and delay of Nikita's naptime to buy Nikita a suitable jacket for the fall, which for Igor and his mom meant a winter coat (Nikita's real winter coat is a thick leather coat from Russia). Nikita looks great in his red coat, and he actually seems to like it.

I've been so busy with work that I don't remember the last time I knitted. Perhaps at the MIT Stitch 'n' Bitch a couple of weeks ago. I'm itching to knit again, especially because of the cooler weather. I need a new scarf. I have been reading, though. Discussed Interpreter of Maladies at bookclub the other day; went well enough. A bunch of sad stories - and you know how much I love sad writing.

How busy have I been? Well, I was all caught up with my 52 introductions by last Thursday at 11.30 am. I even considered posting about this momentous occassion. But then the revisions started coming in. Yesterday, I downloaded and printed out the assignments due this week:

- 29 Methods & Materials (5 pages each)
- 22 journal club critiques (2 pages each)
- 12 body of term paper (8-12 pages each) PLUS about 10 revisions each of the first TWO assignments (summary and outline) because the focus of the term paper wasn't clear. Don't get me started on this.
