Off bedrest (sort of)

Last Friday, my OB found that my cervix is still closed, leading her to think that things have stabilized. So, she relaxed the bedrest! Still not going to work full-time, and she didn't advise mall shopping, working out at the gym, or even lifting Nikita. I am thankful, however, that I can cook again!

And cook I did this weekend: turkey soup and roast chicken on Saturday; cranberry-pecan-oatmeal cookies and pelmeni on Sunday. Perhaps it's because I've been on bedrest for the past 6 weeks, but I found that I get tired after being on my feet for about 1 1/2 hours. Oddly, my right side, by my ribcage, starts to hurt, but it is fine if I recline for a little bit.

This weekend was quite productive. Igor and I did most of our 2006 taxes, and I finished Zoli - the first book I completed in quite a while. I also worked on a pair of socks for Galina; I'm now at the beginning of the heel. Luckily, Galina wants a pair of anklet socks, so I may be able to finish them before she leaves for Moscow on Thursday.

Nikita, meanwhile, is becoming more and more like a cat each day. He's always loved looking at the street from our living room window (sitting or standing on the radiator), but now he will actually lie down on the radiator cover. He also thinks that saliva is a cleaning agent, so will lick his hand and wipe it against anything, including Igor's neck while I'm massaging it. At least he doesn't try to play with my yarn every chance he gets anymore.
