| Ready to ride. |
March was a good month for the boys. They got new riding outfits (right) and burned off donut calories by dancing to "Gangam Style" at the GISB Carnival. Nikita watched
"Cosmos" with me and at school, gave a nearly 10-minute presentation on dwarf planets. Ivan and I went to hear his first cello teacher play with the Discovery Ensemble - a fantastic concert that featured
Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, Brahms' 3rd Symphony, and Sibelius' first composition (written when he was 9). Ivan also participated in his first cello recital!
March was special for me because it hailed the return of
Veronica Mars. I ended up downloading the movie because I was in the middle of commenting hell. But watching it at home also allowed me to make this quick
S'mores Pie - it was also Pi Day!

| Marshmallows * Pi = Happiness |
I'm curious how my sister-in-law (who has a new food
blog) would make it, but here are the modifications I made:
- Crust has 2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 15 crackers) and 1 stick of butter.
- Filling includes no added sugar, a pinch of salt and 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract.
- Topping consists of large marshmallows cut in half.
To be honest, I lost count of the number of times I watched the film and listened to the soundtrack (great for doing taxes). I also read the book as soon as it came out. And if my obsession flagged, Ivan was always ready to ask for Max Schneider's "Stick Up" (based on "Mug Shot") - blasting.
The last weekend of the month was spent in Long Island for Nikita's chess tournament. My parents came out to visit and bring fantastic homemade egg rolls - just like my Nana used to make. I also drove out to meet my first niece (below) and deliver the recently made
baby knits. Ironically, I forgot to take my knitting for the road!
