What I've learned about computers

The USB JumpDrive is the best invention since the internet. Igor says I am now a true nerd because I bought the type that attaches to my key ring, but I don't care. It frees me from lugging around the behemoth of my laptop. I can't live without it.

I've finally figured out how to carry my laptop without killing my shoulders. I shorten the strap, then place it across my chest, with the laptop bouncing on my butt. Before I saw people doing this at MIT, I seriously wondered why a laptop sling didn't exist. After all, if it could carry my 20+ lb. baby, why not my laptop? But now I don't need one. And being flat-chested helps.

Mac 1, PC 0. Converting a Powerpoint presentation to a .pdf file is a breeze on the Powerbook, but requires an expensive program on the PC. Luckily, Igor's lab is just across the parking lot from my "office" (I have a computer workstation and a lockable cabinet on wheels). A good thing because I don't have the energy to learn a new system, and I certainly don't have the money for a new laptop.
