I hate flowers. I paint them because they're cheaper than models and they don't move. - Georgia O'Keefe
Oh, to be talented enough to turn something you hate into a livelihood!
Last Friday was our move-in day at Sudbury. Complete waste of time because the movers were late, so I didn't have much time to unpack before I had to come back home. The only thing I accomplished was figuring out a route that avoids tolls and traffic.
And I have a cubicle! The import didn't really hit me until I dropped in on Melissa yesterday afternoon. When I told her about the cubicle, she said, "Leslie, you didn't get your PhD in order to work in a cubicle." And she's right! Igor, however, said that perhaps it's a temporary measure. After all, they don't normally employ people like me, so don't know exactly how I'll fit in.
Not that I'm waiting around to figure it out. Finally was able to spend a bit of time this morning skimming the titles of recent journal articles, trying to select one to write about for a potential editorial job. I'm not really sure whether I want this job, however, and worry about whether I would be good enough to get it. I should shake off this negative feeling, however. Just because the company wasn't successful doesn't reflect on my qualifications for future jobs.
